How We Serve

Washing Feet

We assist in a variety of ministries in the community and as members of our denomination. Our reach extends into the Arvada and Denver community and across the globe to our American Baptist missionaries that we help sponsor.

Through Action

Churches traditionally are responsible for charity in our society. Without the giving of churches, most hospitals, many nursing homes, shelters for the homeless, and many other chariatable institutions would not have come into being.

Our church contributes in the following ways:

  • As a partner in Arvada Interchurch Arms, a group which ministers to the needy by providing rent assistance
  • As volunteers helping and contributing programs (such as annual Christmas carolling) to nursing home residents
  • With continually collected gifts of food to the Arvada Food Bank
  • Through various ABW ministries:
    • Gifts of children's clothing to Curtis Park in Denver
    • Gifts of toys to missionaries in Bulgaria and to local police forces to comfort children
    • Supporting American Baptist missionaries with letters and supplies

Our Annual Offerings

Four annual offerings in addition to tithes are collected during our church service. All are aggregated with the offerings of other churches that are part of the American Baptist denomination.

One Great Hour of Sharing Logo The One Great Hour of Sharing offering enables emergency relief, refugee work, disaster rehabilitation, and development assistance in the name of Jesus Christ, on behalf of the American Baptist Churches, USA, around the world and here in the United States.

America for Christ Logo Another offering is taken for America for Christ. AFC's ministries include gang alternatives for youth, childcare for homeless families, elder adult ministry resources, planting new churches in the U.S., camping programs, student programs, and anti-violence and peace programs.

Peruvian Woman We also collect a World Mission offering to support foreign missionaries to glorify God in all the earth by crossing cultural boundaries to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Missionary Family Finally, we help support retired employees of the American Baptist Church by giving to the Ministers and Missionaries Fund. The fund provides comprehensive retirement benefits, disability and death benefits for ministers, missionaries, lay employees, and their dependents.

"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being the very nature, God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness, and being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even death on a cross."

"Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God, the Father."
Paul, the apostle, to the church in Phillipi
